Desk Reports :
The United States has started the process of sending back another group of Bangladeshis accused of staying illegally. They are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a chartered flight at around 9 pm on Thursday (September 4).
Sources said that the chartered flight bringing the Bangladeshis will be operated by a Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft. Although the aircraft has about 400 seats, it could not be confirmed how many Bangladeshis are being sent back. The chartered flight has been allowed to stay at Shahjalal Airport for 72 hours.
A senior official of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport told Ajker Patrika that a chartered flight from the United States will arrive in Dhaka on September 4. The flight will land at 9 pm as per the schedule.
Earlier, a chartered flight from the United States landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 6:45 am on August 2. 39 Bangladeshis, including a woman, were sent back on that flight. The chartered flight was operated by a special military aircraft C-17. After a long 60-hour journey, BRAC Paribahan provided assistance to the Bangladeshis returning home and the Expatriate Welfare Desk provided food. Incidentally, since Donald Trump was elected US President for the second term, the drive to deport illegal immigrants in the United States has been intensified. In continuation of this, Bangladeshis have been deported in multiple phases.
